London Assembly investigating the role of business improvement districts (BIDs)

The London Assembly Regeneration Committee is carrying out a “health check” of business improvement districts (BIDs) in London.

There are 45 BIDs in London and the Mayor has a target for 50 by the end of his mayoral term.

“The London Assembly Regeneration Committee is investigating the role of BIDs in high street regeneration and will assess their contribution to local regeneration, examine whether they should have an expanded role and assess the implications of BIDs taking on greater responsibilities.

“This investigation will provide a ‘health check’ of BIDs in London and their relationships with local authorities, the Mayor of London, the London Enterprise Panel and Londoners.”
