The Liverpool BID Company, which represents more than 1,500 businesses has agreed to fund Merseyside Police for two officers.
The group said it will be the “first” police team for a Business Improvement District (BID) in the UK.
The new roles were “additional” to the current policing, said Supt Mark Wiggins, of Merseyside Police.
The new officers, who will be on duty daily, will work directly with the BID Company to address “city centre issues such as aggressive beggars, antisocial behaviour and retail crime”, said a spokesman.
